Crown Feeds and Livestock is a limited liability company incorporated in Nigeria in the year 2000 to provide poultry products and services for consumers - individuals and corporate entities. The company undertakes this business in order to generate nutritional requirement for a healthy Nigerian society as poultry products, especially table egg and chicken are known to be rich in protein, which is an essential food for human growth and development.
With a population of over 160 million, Nigeria is a huge market for poultry farmers. At present, there is shortfall in the daily requirement of egg intake as less than 70 million eggs per day are being produced. This is in addition to the fact that other countries in the sub-region (of West Africa) depend on Nigeria for their supply.
Crown Feeds provides products and services in four broad areas: Commerical Table Eggs; Layers/Broiler Birds; Old Layers; and Feed Milling. Buyt these areas are dictated by the three broad activities of production; Processing; and services regarded as core in poultry husbandry.
The five-years expansion plan which began in 2011 is being implemented faithfully as all the key highlights of the expansion programme, God willing, will be accomplished iin due course. These inlcude Poultry Technical Services, DOCs (Layers), DOCs (Broilers); as well as Coomercial Feed Milling; and Point of Lay Birds.
Located in Issele-Uku, Delta State of Nigeria, the company has two farm sites: One is at Kilometer 2, Old Lagos/Asaba Road, Issele-Uku. Situated on ten hectares of land, the site consists of seven brooding houses, feed mill with silos of 3000 metric tons storage capacity, warehouses that can accommodate 1000 metric tons of grains, two administrative blocks, industrial weigh bridge and two giant boreholes of 30,000 litres each per hour.
The second site is located opposite Issele-Uku junction on Asaba/Benin Expressway. It houses the company's state-of-the-art automated layer cages with 120,000 birds capacity as well as Grower Pens of capacity of 40,000 (two houses of 20,000 each). Site Two occupies about 50 hectares of land. In 2011, the company added another unit to its operation - a layer breeder farm of 20,000 birds capacity and a hatchery with a capacity to produce six million Day-Old-Chicks (DOCs) a year at 550,000 per month.
Since inception, the company has carved a niche for itself in the industry with eyes on becoming a big player in the poultry industry in Nigeria through the exploitation of favourable policies of the government in order to encourage investment in the sector.
Currently, the company has a workforce of about 200 members of staff comprising three expatriates, eleven Nigerian senior professionals, other semi and non-skilled Nigerian workers.
It is a private limited company indigenously owned.
